Heart & Hands

Matching

We match newly-arrived refugee and asylum-seeking families with local "partner" families who have slightly older kids.

Donations

Each local partner family commits to send or deliver 2-3 clothing hand-me-down packages per year to their partner family.

New Neighbors Partnership fosters community support for refugee families by connecting them with local partner families who can share ongoing kids hand-me-down clothing from season to season, encouraging long-term, trusted, relationships and family-to-family partnerships. This model reimagines in-kind giving by turning what is typically a one-time blind clothing donation into a longstanding relationship between families. â€‹

Other Initiatives

The trusting long-term relationships we’ve built with newcomers and our large community of engaged volunteers make us well-positioned to meet "neighbor needs" (the types of things you'd rely on friends and family for) and help refugees not just survive, but create community and thrive.

Marhaban Ramadan

During Ramadan, many of our new neighbors from around the world face the lonely prospect of celebrating the holiday for the first time in the US without friends & loved ones. To support the community, volunteers send care packages to refugee families to help combat food shortages and isolation many families experience and share some holiday cheer.

New Moms Support Group

So many moms in our community reported feeling isolated and in need of basic postpartum supplies. In response, New Neighbors launched a fully accessible New Moms Group, facilitated by a certified parenting educator. This initiative helps isolated moms form community and access essential supplies and information in a linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive environment.

Summer Welcome Party

Every summer, in honor of World Refugee Day (June 20), New Neighbors Partnership hosts a community welcome party so newcomers can meet community members and enjoy a fun day of free activities!
